Davao City, Philippines — The Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology (AISAT) continues to reach out to high school students through its Career Guidance Orientation (CGO) program, recently held at Stella Maris Academy of Davao (SMAD) on October 9, 2024. Led by Marketing Officer Viktorria L. Villamor, the CGO aims to provide students with valuable insights into the career paths available in aviation and animation. This latest event is part of AISAT’s ongoing mission to support students in making informed choices about their educational futures.
Comprehending the Career Guidance Orientation program of AISAT
As a part of its outreach and marketing strategy, AISAT has designed a CGO program, which is also very useful to high school students, especially Grade 12 students.
“The main objective of the CGO is to assist all participating students in achieving and developing attitudes, skills, and knowledge that assists them in personally responsible decision-making regarding their future,” Villamor opined.
Therefore, by going to schools within Davao City and likewise to some other areas, AISAT promotes the two areas of specialization – aviation and animation and their associated industries.
Expanding Horizons: Recent Locations for CGO
In addition to the recent orientation at SMAD, AISAT has conducted CGOs at several other key locations. On September 11, 2024, the team visited Davao Christian High School’s V. Mapa Campus, a long-time partner in the program. Before that, on September 6, 2024, AISAT participated in a school fair in Mati City, reaching students from various schools in the area.
Such orientations are organized tactically considering various aspects, one of which is whether the school is categorized as a ‘feeder school’ – implying that the school has earlier sent pupils to attend AISAT – or whether the host school has issued an invite. In the end, conducting a CGO depends on the host school’s management’s ruling.
“Our target is to reach a great audience of students who would like to know about the various fascinating professions available to them,” explained Villamor.
Positive Feedback and Addressing Student Concerns
The feedback from students, parents, and school administrators has been overwhelmingly positive. Many participants have expressed interest in AISAT’s state-of-the-art facilities, particularly the aviation and animation labs and the school’s gym. “The students are always excited about the hands-on opportunities we provide in these fields,” Villamor shared.
Students typically raise practical questions about school fees, scholarship opportunities, admission tests, and enrollment requirements during the orientations. Villamor and her team ensure that these concerns are addressed with detailed explanations, often providing printed materials such as brochures and flyers to help students and their parents better understand AISAT’s offerings.
Challenges in Multiple Locations and Solutions
Conducting orientations in different locations comes with its own set of challenges. Technical issues are common, such as the inability to play presentation videos at some venues. However, Villamor and her team have learned to adapt. “We always come prepared with backup equipment, such as an extra laptop and connection cables, to ensure the presentations go smoothly,” she explained. This proactive approach helps ensure that the students receive a seamless and informative experience, regardless of the location.
Inspiring Students for Long-Term Success
AISAT’s Career Guidance Orientation program is more than just a marketing effort; it inspires students to pursue ambitious careers in aviation and animation. Villamor emphasized that the goal is to spark students’ imaginations and encourage them to explore career opportunities they may not have considered. “We hope that these orientations open students’ eyes to the possibilities awaiting them in these industries,” she said.
One of the most impactful moments of each CGO is when Villamor shares AISAT’s tagline:
“At AISAT, we can Let Your Dreams Take Flight.”
This phrase embodies the school’s commitment to helping students realize their full potential and challenge themselves in ways they never thought possible.
Rewarding Experiences and Looking Ahead
For Villamor, the most rewarding aspect of conducting these orientations is witnessing students’ enthusiasm and excitement about the future. “For more than 5 years of performing such fieldwork, I must say that the opportunity to educate, inspire, and move the hearts and minds of students regarding AISAT programs has always been the most fulfilling experience. I always see that priceless eureka moment in their expressions, which confirms the high quality of our education and facilities. And yes, to top it all off, God’s leading, protection, and wisdom have always been our driving force to nail all our CGOs,” she reflected.
As AISAT continues to expand its CGO program, the school remains committed to educating and inspiring the next generation of aviation and animation professionals. With successful events already held at SMAD, Davao Christian High School’s V. Mapa Campus, and the schools fair in Mati City, AISAT is well on its way to helping more students achieve their dreams, one orientation at a time. With each orientation, AISAT is not just presenting career options; it’s opening doors to new horizons and helping students’ dreams truly take flight.
