Around one hundred students from the Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology (AISAT) participated in the NSTP Values Formation event held at Mais Hall, Homitory, on August 31, 2024, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event, organized by AISAT’s Campus Ministry and led by Mr. Lorence Marimon, the Campus Ministry Coordinator, in collaboration with Elevate Davao and the Mindanao Visayas Baptist Youth Fellowship Pastoral Team, emphasized AISAT’s mission of fostering intelligent and ethical decision-making rooted in Christian values.
The program not only encouraged critical thinking imbued with Christian values but also introduced students to Elevate Davao, AISAT’s partner fellowship group for RevUp, and the Campus Ministry. Mr. Marimon praised Elevate Davao for its commitment to guiding small groups and contextualizing the Word of God, which he stressed is essential for true and deeper understanding. He also highlighted the role of Christ Commission Fellowship, Elevate Davao’s partner church, in supporting students’ spiritual journeys by providing a platform to serve Christ.
Highlights of the Event
Prizes were distributed to students who won during the event’s icebreaker, followed by a soulful acoustic performance by Mr. Marimon, who led the praise and worship with the song “10,000 Reasons.” The guidance counselor, Ma’am Maria Cecilia Santander, added a lively touch by narrating a comical skit based on the story of “The Rich Man and Lazarus.” Though initially shy, the students quickly warmed up and eagerly participated as actors, filling the room with laughter. After the skit, the school chaplain, Pastor Marck David Felipe, delivered a powerful sermon, deepening the students’ understanding of God’s word and sparking their curiosity. These newfound questions were further explored in small group discussions, facilitated by 21 leaders from Elevate Davao and the Mindanao Visayas Baptist Youth Fellowship Pastoral Team. The event concluded with the song “Christ be Magnified” and a group photo with all participants and facilitators.
The event saw active participation from AISAT students, including members of Elevate Davao and RevUp, a campus ministry club dedicated to sharing the Word of God and providing spiritual support through small group meetings. RevUp, which consists of three subgroups—Campus Ministry, Aeroharmonics (the choir group), and Jet Stream (the worship team)—plays a significant role in enhancing students’ spiritual lives.
RevUp club president, Mr. Sairus Ralph Soterol, expressed his enthusiasm about the event, noting the positive interactions with students. He was particularly enthusiastic about engaging with students from diverse faith backgrounds, which motivated him to share God’s words and spread the gospel. He believes the program will enrich AISAT students with God’s teachings. He also trusts that the event is fundamental in getting to know and building a relationship with God despite their busy schedules with their studies and extracurricular activities. Mr. Soterol encouraged students to build a relationship with God, reminding them that He is always waiting patiently.
AISAT’s Commitment to Holistic Education
As a higher education institution, AISAT is dedicated to providing a well-rounded learning experience that not only focuses on academic and practical skills but also on spiritual growth. Mr. Marimon underscored the importance of holistic education, encouraging students to develop morally and ethically with a strong foundation in the Bible and God’s word. He further emphasized that young adults require human interaction and accountability partners for personal development, which RevUp and the NSTP Values Formation aim to offer through small group discussions. Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Soterol remarked that “many people live in sin, and it is necessary to know God to achieve righteousness,” highlighting the significance of faith in personal development.
AISAT’s Campus Ministry is set to host another NSTP Values Formation event on October 19, 2024. Mr. Marimon invites students to approach him with any questions about RevUp or the upcoming event. He may be contacted through his email, lmarimon@aisat.edu.ph.
