Davao City — The Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology (AISAT) conducted a tuition fee consultation on February 21, 2024, to discuss a proposed increase for the upcoming academic year. The session provided an opportunity for the administration to explain the reasons behind the adjustment, ensure transparency, and address student concerns.
Led by AISAT School President Atty. Myra Ann Wee-Toe Hio, the consultation emphasized the necessity of the tuition increase to sustain the quality of education and ongoing school operations. She reassured the AISAT community that the proposed adjustment is both reasonable and compliant with the guidelines set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), which regulates tuition increases for private higher education institutions.
Basis for the Tuition Fee Increase
Atty. Wee-Toe Hio explained that the tuition fee adjustment is based on the Davao Region’s 3.2% inflation rate, ensuring fairness while allowing the school to cope with rising operational costs. The 3.2% increase will apply across all levels, although specific changes may vary by program.
While acknowledging that any fee hike may raise concerns among students, she highlighted that AISAT continues to offer quality aviation education at a more affordable rate compared to leading aviation schools in Luzon and Visayas, which charge significantly higher tuition.
Key Factors Behind the Increase
The administration identified three primary reasons for the proposed adjustment:
• Faculty and Staff Salaries
In the past year, salaries rose by 20% due to the increasing demand for aviation educators. AISAT aims to retain highly qualified instructors to ensure that graduates meet industry standards.
• Increased Operational Expenses
Rising costs of utilities, maintenance, and learning materials also contributed to the tuition adjustment. The school emphasized the need to maintain facilities and equipment that support student learning.
• School Development and Improvements
AISAT remains committed to continuous development, including facility upgrades, modern training equipment, and enhanced student services.
“We will not stop trying to develop the school. Priorities come first,” Atty. Wee-Toe Hio affirmed during the consultation. These investments are key to maintaining AISAT’s high standards and aligning training with industry expectations.
Fee Adjustments Per Program
While the 3.2% increase applies to all programs, specific adjustments may differ based on course requirements. Programs involving specialized training—such as Aircraft Maintenance Technology and Aircraft and Aviation Electronics Technology—may have slightly different fee structures due to the cost of tools, materials, and equipment.
AISAT offers a variety of aviation-related courses, including:
• Aircraft Maintenance Technology
• Aviation Management
• Aircraft and Aviation Electronics Technology
• Entertainment & Multimedia Computing
These programs are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the aviation industry. The tuition increase aims to support their continuous improvement.

Beyond tuition fees, students raised additional concerns during the consultation. One notable topic was the implementation of the Type A uniform policy for campus entry. The administration acknowledged the concerns and assured students that the matter would be reviewed as part of ongoing policy evaluations.
AISAT emphasized the importance of student feedback, recognizing it as a vital part of shaping school policies and maintaining a supportive educational environment.
