Davao City, July 31, 2023 – The Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology (AISAT) officially inaugurated the 2023-2024 academic year on July 31st, marking a momentous occasion for aviation enthusiasts in Davao City. The AISAT community came together for a dynamic start to the academic year, characterized by inspiring speeches, introductions to campus life, and recognition of academic achievements.
The AISAT Supreme Student Council played a central role in welcoming both freshmen and returning students during the New Student Orientation Program held at the Homitori Grand Mais Hall. The event kicked off at 7:30 AM, with student council members providing essential resources such as attendance sheets, student handbooks, wristbands, and informative pamphlets, ensuring everyone was well-prepared for the day ahead.
The academic year introduced ten sections of students in Aviation Department, including those from the Aviation Management Department and the Institute of Design and Technology.
Engr. Aida M. Rosales, Head of Academic Affairs, delivered the inaugural address, setting the tone for the day. She was joined by Mr. Sam A. Trinidad, the outgoing Vice President of External Affairs, and Ms. Lhilet Mae Betonio, who represented the Aviation Management (AvM) department. Each shared their hopes and aspirations for the upcoming academic year.
The morning continued with SSC President Mr. Jerecho Ryann Belhida providing an overview of campus life, followed by Ma’am Camelle Yu, the Head of Student Affairs, presenting school policies and regulations. Mr. Adonis Joshua Po, SSC Internal Vice President, introduced the various school clubs and organizations, highlighting the vibrant extracurricular life at AISAT.
After the formalities, students had the opportunity to explore their classrooms and familiarize themselves with various campus facilities during guided tours. This immersive experience allowed them to envision their educational journey ahead.
The excitement continued as sophomores and seniors gathered in the AISAT Gymnasium for the second part of the New Student Orientation Program. Atty. Myra Ann Wee-Toe Hio, the School President, emphasized the values of precision and dedication, instilling the idea that students were not just learners but future aviation leaders. Ma’am Maricel Sergio, the School’s HR Assistant, introduced the AISAT Personnel; while Sir Matty Joey Torres, the School Administrator, addressed the tuition and miscellaneous fees and the importance of staying informed through AISAT’s communication channels. Ma’am Elma Limen, the School Registrar, highlighted the essential documents required in the Registrar’s Office.
The highlight of the day was the recognition of students who achieved the Dean’s List status, a testament to their outstanding academic accomplishments, motivating others to strive for excellence.
A comprehensive range of student services, including the School Clinic, Guidance Office, Campus Ministry, and the Office of Student Affairs, were introduced. Ma’am Riz Bianca Nicole Castillo–Bascon, RN, MAN, oversaw clinical concerns; while Ma’am Maria Cecilia Santander, the Guidance or Student Facilitator, provided counseling, referral, follow-up, and testing services. Sir Lorence Marimon led the in-campus youth ministry.
The event concluded with Ma’am Viktoria Villamor, the Marketing and Admission Officer, providing insights into the school’s social media accounts and website. Attendees interested in private and commercial pilot training or instrument rating had the opportunity to engage with Adventure Flight Education and Sport (AFES), AISAT Davao’s flying school arm.
The AISAT community is eagerly looking forward to a successful academic year, with students committed to mastering aircraft and technology, aspiring to become the aviation leaders of tomorrow. The event marked the beginning of a journey filled with possibilities, promising growth, and educational excellence at AISAT.
