Inspiring and Guiding Students on their Future Aviation and Animation Careers
To showcase educational offerings, encourage informed choices, connect prospective students, and promote local and regional education, the Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology Davao joins the first-ever Tagum City Career Expo 2025. Held last March 25 and 26, 2025, at the Tagum City Hall Atrium, AISAT was one of the exhibitors, along with more than 30 other universities, colleges, national line agencies, and other higher education institutions from the Davao region. Around a thousand students from both private and public schools participated, and the event had a Squid Game theme with life-size game-inspired props and symbolic youth-focused elements. For both days of the event, the AISAT Tagum Career Expo team consisted of Executive Secretary, Ms. Camelle Yu; Assistant Purchasing Officer and Company Driver, Mr. Shawn Roslinda; and Career Guidance Orientation Staff, Mr. Jon Lorence Panelo.
As early as March 24, 2025, the AISAT Tagum Career Expo team had already gone to Tagum for the ingress and setup of the booth. The AISAT booth consists of a background measuring 8 feet in height and 4 feet in width, highlighting the uniforms of the students, a tarpaulin with the program offerings, flyers for both the AISAT degree programs and Adventure Flight Education and Sports Inc. offerings, AISAT stickers, and the AISAT jacket, tote bag, and cap. On day 1 of the event, the program started at 8 AM with registration, preliminaries, and a welcome message acknowledging the participants and exhibitors. From 9 AM to 5 PM, the booth hopping and side activities were simultaneous. During this time, participants from public schools were free to visit booths and, at the same time, attend the scheduled career talks and career interviews with guest speakers, and topics ranging from preparing incoming college students to having a career in the AI era.
Moreover, during the afternoon of day 1, the City Information Office of the City Government of Tagum conducted interviews and live coverage of the exhibitors while asking questions about the program offerings and why students should choose their schools. Towards the end of day 1, a mini-concert, game show, raffle, and closing program were provided by the Tagum City Public Employment Services and Capability Development Office (CPESCDO). For day 2, the participants were from private schools, and the scheduled career talks and career interviews covered topics on mental health, presentation skills, and side hustles. An awarding ceremony was also conducted on day 2, wherein the organizers awarded the best school promotional videos and all the exhibitors a certificate and a token. Throughout the two-day event, the City Government of Tagum also provided career and employment coaching and entrepreneurial coaching to equip the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for both the job market and entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, when asked for his thoughts as one of the members of the technical working group for the Career Expo 2025, Mr. Sandro Villarosa from CPESCDO-LGU Tagum stated that he would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the school exhibitors, participating Senior High School institutions, partners, guests, speakers, and volunteers who contributed to making the event a success. He added that the vision for the program was clear from the start – to assist graduating Senior High School students in making informed career decisions and bringing together a wide array of Higher Education Institutions from the Davao Region and relevant national agencies while creating an engaging and dynamic event, is a significant achievement for the LGU Tagum. Mr. Villarosa also highlighted that under the programs and services of the Career Guidance and Employment Coaching Services (CGECS) Section, they aim to continue supporting students in applying the insights they gained from the event to make career choices that resonate with them personally and professionally. Mr. Sandro Villarosa said:
“We are excited about the prospect of refining and expanding this program in the future, with the goal of making it even bigger and better.”
