AVI 411 or Research Methods and Application is a major subject for 4th year Aviation students- Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) and Aircraft Electronics Technology (AET). This subject is handled by Mr. Arbe Jay S. Polancos, the Research Head of Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology. It is worth noting that since Mr. Polancos took the reins of being the research head, he has then shifted to experimental research compared to the usual qualitative research or descriptive and/or correlational approach of quantitative research.

For the first semester, three (3) sections (AET 4, AMT 4A, & AMT 4B) are all required to take the subject. They are bound to undertake the gargantuan task of experimenting with anything related to their course in aviation. Commonly explored topics dwell on corrosion, composite alternatives, sealants, alternative power supply, and others.

The students are divided into four (4) members per group, as this is standard procedure. Then they are going to choose a leader, fair and square. They are obligated to contribute substantially from the start of the brainstorming to the defense of the paper. For AMT 4A, these are the proposed topics and/or titles:

After the outline defense, the students were tasked to improve their paper based on the suggestion of the panel. Some students had minor revisions involving the title and procedure. Some had major revisions from the conceptualization to the design. Come November, the students will have their final defense and will be given the final judgment on whether they pass or not. They only have two months and a half to finish their experiment. Best of luck to the researchers.
