One moment I am living a normal and carefree life then suddenly, everything I know changes.

Modern times have become too comfortable. I am blessed to be in a normal and stable life, yet I feel stuck most of the time and unsure what I really want in life. I know I am not the only one who feels this way. According to a research by Agency in 2015,69% of us feel trapped in the same old routine, and only 3 out of 10 of us are happy with our lives.

Now that I am a Senior High School Student, the expectations of others increase and this feeling of being stuck grows stronger because I find myself between becoming a college student and being in a later period of a high school student. Now that I think about it, I realize that I am just complicating things for myself and others around me. This made me hover for a while, to slow down, and give myself time to think in the meantime.

These feelings of being lost and stuck are now more common. There are many factors that lead to these but Dr. Kerry Petsinger, a mindset and performance coach, suggests that these are because of aiming for false objectives in lifelike aiming to hit a target that others have set for oneself. These kinds of goals often lead to the feeling of dissatisfaction by the time of achieving them. As Lana Blakeley, a social media influencer who explores philosophical topics said, “… It is important to set what my northern star in life really is or what I want to be in the future”.

In the end, hovering for a while is helpful as it gives time to think and relax for a while because in understanding the world, I must turn away from it occasionally . However, it is important to know when to stop and to continue living. Personally, finding the motivation may be the hardest part as it needs to give me a reason to run towards what I want and at the same time run away from things I don’t want to become. These are all necessary to be independent and learn to make a difference.
