From discovering talents to growing opportunities— Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology (AISAT) once again opened its doors of opportunity as the institution headed the Digital Art Competition 2018 sponsored by SM City Davao last August 15, 2018 at SM Lanang Premier, Davao City. With the theme, “Future Forest”, ten (10) participants all over Davao Region qualified to join the said event.
The general mechanics was for the qualifiers to produce digital art forms of the given theme within five hours. With the generous provision from AISAT, each participant was provided a MAC desktop and Huacom tablet with programmed Photoshop and Illustrator. Moreover, Top three winners and consolation awardees were fated to bag awards— 10,000 worth of SM department gift certificate for the champion; 7,000 worth of gift certificate for the 2nd; 5,000 worth of gift certificate for the 3rd best art form and 1,000 worth of gift certificate as consolation prizes for the rest of the finalists.
Art is infinite and profound; thus, in choosing the winners, conscientious judges specifically looked for these criteria: Creativity and Design 40%, Style 20%, Storytelling 20%, and Level of Completion 20%. Invited judges from Davao Graphic Arts Community were Mr. Marx Consuegra, Mr. Paulo Ramirez, Mr. Alben Tan; and with a special participation from the organizing institution, Ms. Kaye Lodia of AISAT.
After series of deliberations, the four judges unanimously chose the three best art forms of the following finalists:
1st Place- Francis Carl Sumayo
2nd Place- Seth Sande Jusay
3rd Place- Rieno Ivan Monterona
When art and hard work come together, they can indeed give birth to beautiful masterpieces!
